Caregive App
Engagement mobile app that helps the family better communicate with the caregiver

Role
Personal project as part of studies at CREATE

Background story
Gal, a 30-year-old, received a phone call from his mom one night. She informed him that his grandma, Rachel, who is 86 years old, had fallen and been rushed to the hospital. She suffered a head trauma and broke her hip. After an operation, she was transferred to a rehabilitation center.
Unfortunately, the trauma had lasting consequences, including dementia, misjudgment, and a lack of self-awareness. As a result, she was diagnosed as needing home care. The rehabilitation center advised the family to start looking for a live-in caregiver for her.
The problem
There is a growing need in Israel to find caregivers for elderly people, as they usually require someone to take care of them 24/7. Gal and his mom managed to find a caregiver from the Philippines who barely speaks English.
Key Challenges
1
Finding the right caregiver
Reliable caregiver information is difficult to access, making it harder to find the right fit.
2
Managing everyday expenses
Small expenses, receipts, and unclear budgets are difficult to track.
3
Maintaining continuity of care
Finding a replacement caregiver when the regular caregiver is unavailable can be difficult.
4
Coordinating everyday care
Tasks, responsibilities, and expectations can easily become unclear between family members and caregivers.
Key Market Insights
Time pressure
Families often need to find a caregiver quickly, leaving little time to evaluate compatibility.
Communication barriers
Language and cultural differences can make everyday coordination more difficult.
Budget uncertainty
Urgency and unclear expectations can make caregiving costs harder to manage.

Competitive & Analogous Research
I explored products outside caregiving to understand how they solve similar challenges around coordination, health information, expenses, and administration.

What I learned
Caregiving combines needs that are usually handled by separate tools. This became an opportunity to bring communication, tasks, expenses, and essential information into one shared experience.
User research
I interviewed 16 people aged 35-70 whose family members needed a caregiver. These individuals experienced various difficulties throughout the stages of caregiving. They shared their struggles with bureaucracy and discussed communication challenges with caregivers while navigating their everyday lives. Some of the interviewees had small children and cared for very old and sick parents, while others helped their grandparents.
Key Research Insights
1
Miscommunication leads to frustration on both sides.
2
Fear of hurting someone's feelings can lead to turning a blind eye to deviations.
3
Not sticking to the budget leads to a financial burden.
4
Sharing responsibilities can lead to things being overlooked or forgotten.
5
Lots of small expenses make it hard to keep track.
6
Lack of transparency about everyday tasks can cause anxiety for the family.
7
When a caregiver is absent, the family may need to fill in, which can be a burden on their time and personal lives.

The Solution
CareGive creates a shared space for families and caregivers to coordinate everyday care.
It brings tasks, expenses, care information, and communication into one place, while helping families maintain continuity when their regular caregiver is unavailable.
User Stories
Exploring the experience from both sides of the caregiving relationship.
Gal, 35, registers his 87-year-old grandmother in the app and connects her with her caregiver to better manage her daily care and stay involved.
Onboarding — Family Member Experience
During onboarding, Gal sets up a profile for his grandmother and connects her with a caregiver.
The process guides him through adding essential details and linking people involved in her care, creating a shared space for coordination and communication.
Needs simple and clear communication with the family
Faces language barriers in daily interactions
Requires an easy way to manage care tasks and updates
User Story 2
Maya — Caregiver
Onboarding — Caregiver Experience
During onboarding, Maya completes a short setup to personalize her experience and align expectations with the family.
She provides key details such as language abilities, household skills, relevant experience with specific health conditions, and personal preferences.
This information helps establish clear communication, reduce misunderstandings, and create a better match between the caregiver and the family.
Care Plan Flow
A shared care plan helps family members and caregivers assign recurring tasks, track routines, and see what has been completed.

Future Opportunity
Dose identification and the time to take them
Add automatic to the calendar
Notification alerts for the caregiver to take the meds
Easy connection to the medical provider to ask for a prescription renewal
UI Design
The visual language was designed to feel calm, trustworthy, and approachable. Soft greens create reassurance and clarity, while warm accents bring a more human quality to the caregiving experience.
