Overview
During one year of collaboration with the product team at Shamir Optical Industry, I worked on redesigning Shamir Personal, a digital portal designed to support sales, marketing, and service for eye care professionals.
The platform helps professionals provide personalized optical solutions for their customers, including ordering frames and lenses.
My work focused on simplifying the ordering workflow, creating a clear one-page order form, and improving system preferences to support a more efficient and personalized user experience.
Challenge
Bridging Paper Workflows and Digital Ordering
The existing system presented several usability challenges. Eye care professionals often relied on paper order forms, while the digital platform felt complex and outdated. The ordering process required navigating multiple screens, making it difficult to use quickly during busy clinical workflows. The goal was to modernize the platform while keeping the experience familiar, enabling a smooth transition from paper to digital without disrupting existing habits.

Guiding Users Through a Complex Process
A stepper navigation was introduced at the top of the form to support a clearer and more structured ordering experience. The process includes multiple stages—reference details, prescription, frame selection, and lens configuration—each requiring focused input.
This structure supports users transitioning from paper forms by translating a complex workflow into a guided, sequential experience, helping maintain speed and accuracy during patient interactions.
The stepper helps to:

Provide a sense of progress and orientation
Reduce cognitive load by focusing attention on one section at a time

Flexible Input Through Shape and Frame Tabs
Following the guided stepper, the ordering flow transitions into a structured selection interface that allows users to define the lens shape and frame details. The interface is divided into two tabs: Shape and Frame.
Lens Selection
Configuring Lens Technology
Users select lens category, design, material, coatings, tinting, and additional optical parameters through a structured interface that simplifies complex product configurations while maintaining flexibility and accuracy.
Order Summary
Reviewing Before Submission
A consolidated summary presents all selected frame, lens, and prescription details in one place, allowing users to verify the order and make final adjustments before submission.
